About Me

I'm a voracious reader. I read my first adult novel when I was twelve. I read a lot of "genre" books. I like mysteries, science fiction, fantasy and some horror. I have some dark need to read vampire books. Any and all vampire books I can get my hands on. I review many of the books I read on my Genre Wench blog.

I'm a compulsive singer. If I know the words I'm going to sing. Most times I don't even know I'm doing it. The joys of six years worth of voice lessons. I like all kinds of music from Beethoven to U2. Every once in a while I go on an 80s nostalgia kick. I currently have an embarrassing amount of "new romantic" music in my iTunes playlist.

A long time ago I did a year and a half of a film degree. After one shoot in sub-zero weather I decided that I didn't want to MAKE movies. I wanted watch them and I wanted to write them but I didn't want anything to do with production. Eventually I got a communications degree and a certificate in professional writing. I also did a scriptwriting class at the Vancouver Film School.

For the last 20 years I've made my living as an office drone, a freelance writer and a stage manager. I'm not going to tell you which job I liked best.

I love dogs but really don't want to make the 14 year plus commitment. I volunteer puppy raise for a local agency. My job is basic obedience and socialization. I take a puppy into my home for 12 to 18 months then I give him back. While s/he is with me, the puppy goes where ever I do. It can be a lot of fun but some times it's a pain in the neck to be attached to a dog. That's why I take a break in between dogs.

About This Blog

This is my personal blog where I post anything that I think is cool, funny, important or aggravating. Opinions expressed on this blog are my own unless otherwise stated. I belong to a few affiliate programs and get a small (very small) commission on anything purchased through my links. I will not have ads on my site for products or services  I do not endorse.

My Other Blogs

Genre Wench - Here's where I write reviews of mystery, science fiction, fantasy and horror books. I also post book trailers, author interviews or anything else related to genre books I find.

The Conjurer's Kitchen - Part food blog part pagan book of shadows. A much ignored blog where I explore pagan spirituality and the magic of food.

Viridian Passion -  How do you make your love life sustainable. I write about all aspects of "eco" or "green" sex. In this blog you'l find product reviews, news and interesting videos.

One Final Note About Me

Spelling/Grammar: I'm dyslexic. My spelling is atrocious. I tend do write the way I talk. No one speaks with grammatic correctness all the time. I lent an English professor my favorite grammar book (The Deluxe Transitive Vampire: A Handbook of Grammar for the Innocent, the Eager and the Doomed) and never got it back. One of these days I'm gonna replace it. Until then, you're stuck with me as I am. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.
